The Trotting Texas Turtles Volkssport Club (TX43 / AVA205) would like to
welcome you to Volksmarching Deep in the Heart of Texas. Our walking club
serves the The Fort Hood Army Base as well as the Copperas Cove, Killeen,
Belton, Temple, and Waco area. We host 10K walking events for the Central
Texas area. We have held a 4th of July Volksmarch event on the Ft. Hood Army
Base in the past.
Volksmarch is a German Word meaning "People Walk" or walk of the people.
A Volksmarch is usually 10K (6 miles) over a specific route.
Regular Volksmarch Events have a registration table, a manned checkpoint,
and lots of people walking during a set time period.
The public (non-members) is invited to come and enjoy these volksmarches
or walks. Our 10K events are held as a public service to encourage walking
for health, fitness, and fun. They are a great form of outdoor exercise.

upcoming events.
At volksmarch events, you walk at your own pace, they are untimed. You can
walk as fast or as slow as you wish. Some people even run or jog. We try
to make all our events "a walk to remember".
YEAR ROUND EVENTS
Year Round Events are referred to as YREs. The YRE Events have a "walk box"
at a place of business. The start/finish is self-service. Please wait until
the clerk has taken care of their customers before asking for the box. Take
the box to an out of the way location. Open the box, read the instruction
sheet, complete the registration form, and sign the waiver. Take a start
card and directions for the walk. Follow the directions on the map correctly
and you should be back at the start in less than three hours. Please time
your walk so as to finish before dark. Take a pencil with you and mark your
start card with the answers to the checkpoint questions. Place your start
cards in one of the envelopes provided. Leave the envelope in the marked
folder in the box.
Listed above are the Trotting Texas Turtles' Year Round Walk Event Locations.
Pass your mouse cursor over each location to see what AVA Special Event Stamps
the YREs qualify for. Click

Both types of walking events are sanctioned under the American Volkssporting
Association (AVA) in the IVV and are eligible for credit toward IVV Achievement
Awards.
