2003 Fredericksburg
Midnight Event It was cold but dry. Lenore and Carol only walked for about 30 minutes, then returned to the start. Ed, Yahoo, and I finished up the walk.

01/18/03 Houston Buffalo Bayou This was 90% on hike and bike trail. It was a very enjoyable event. Pictures

01/20/03 Temple YRE Group Walk This is a new event. There was a good turnout for the group walk. Very nice event.

01/25/03 Tyler State Park In spite of the cold weather, this was a nice walk. For pictures: Click Here.

02/01/03 Kerrville Schreiner State Park This was a nice walk. For pictures: Click Here.

02/08/03 Baylor YRE in Waco The weatherman predicted snow mixed with sleet, so we stayed close to home. Our YRE is always a good walk.

02/15/03 Honey Creek Natural Area This is a great walk along the Guadalupe River and Honey Creek.

02/22/03 Mrs. Lee's Garden This is a great walk through fields of daffodils. Pictures

03/01/03 Seguin We did the city walk with the courthouse square. It was cool and misting rain.Pictures

Lewisville This event started at the Corp of Engineers Park on Lake Lewisville. The woods where still all dead except for a few wild plum trees.Pictures

03/28/03 Texas A&M Campus It was cold and windy, but the campus made a very nice walk.Pictures

04/05/03 Canyon Lake Dam It was a great day for walking. The part of the route along the Guadalupe River was especially nice.Pictures

04/12/03 Lake Bob Sandlin The walk was mostly in the woods and the weather was great!Pictures

04/19/03 Ft. Sam Houston The walk was supposed to go through the Botanical Gardens, but the Army had the gate locked. The walk was rerouted to stay inside the base. It was misting rain.

04/26/03 Denison 10th Anniversary We got great weather and the traffic going through Dallas was lite. Denison is a very nice place for a city walk.Pictures

05/03-04/03 Calvert It was overcast and looked like rain, but we never got wet. It was a Turtle event so we walked and worked a checkpoint.Pictures

05/10/03 Texas City It was overcast and very windy. This was our first visit to Texas City. We enjoyed the walk very mcuh.Pictures

05/17/03 Sulpher Spring, OK Carol and Lenore did this YRE without me. Carol said it was very cold.

05/31/03 Pflugerville YRE Carol, Lenore, and I did this YRE. It is on a very nice hike/bike trail. Pictures

06/07/03 Waxahachie It was great weather and we enjoyed the arts/craft show too. Pictures

06/14/03 Fredericksburg This was an out and back event. There was also a swim. We always enjoy our trips to Fredericksburg. Walk Pictures

06/23/03 Cripple Creek, CO Cripple Creek is an old mining town up in the mountains outside Colorado Springs. It was a great walk thru the town and up the side of the mountain where there are still old mining building.

06/24/03 Royal Gorge, CO The view of the Arkansas River was spectacular. Very commercialized though with lots of venders and such but if you overlook that it was great. We walked across the gorge on the bridge which I thought was going to be scarey but wasn't.

06/25/03 Pine Bluff, WY This was a great YRE event.

06/26/03 Colorado Springs, CO Garden of the Gods event. The walk was wonderful. The rock formations are amazing, the down side was we couldn,t climb all over. We did a little climbing in one area that wasn't posted but because of preservation efforts most of the rocks are off limits.

07/19/03 Nacogdoches YRE Nice YRE with lots of shade. The drive to this event is really nice too. Love the piney woods.Pictures

08/09/03 Waco, TX Did our own club's event. We always enjoy Waco!

08/16/03 Waxahachie, TX New event this year. Mostly hike/bike trail with lots of shade. Very nice!

08/23/03 Temple, TX Another one of our events. New this year also. Lots of older homes in the historic district. Pictures

09/06/03 Irving, TX Evening walk at Las Colinas area of Irving. Walk was along the canals and included Mustang Plaza. Pictures

09/20/03 Dallas, TX Dart Walk, we did the Mockingbird/SMU section and the Zoo Section Pictures

09/27/03 Purtis Creek State Park It's a very nice area that we have never been to before, and the weather was cool and dry. Pictures

11/08/03 Atlanta State Park State Park just south of Texarkana. Very nice area of woods bordering on a lake.Pictures

11/14/03 LBJ National Grasslands Not all grass. For a grasslands there was a surprising amount of trees. Pictures

11/29/03 Helena Was once the seat of Karnes County. Now a ghost town with only a few people.Pictures

12/31/03 TVA Memorial Event Held in Fredericksburg, it does not duplicate any of the YREs. It was a nice event with lots of participants. Pictures

San Antonio We did the trail that went around the residential area, over by the Zoo and the Japanese Sunken Garden and came back throught the College Campus. Pictures

Nice residential area. This was not flat land, it was hilly and a nice walk. Pictures

Cooper Lake State Park It was a rainy day. It rained on us most of the way there. It misted rain during the walk. The route was thru a grassy field, around a camping area, and through some woods. There wasn't any muddy spots. Nice walk. Pictures

Mineral Wells State Park It was a little windy and cold, but not bad. We did this route to get Palo Pinto County.Pictures

TVA Meeting Event It was overcast, windy and cold, but dry. Nice event with lots of historical homes.Pictures

San Antonio, TX We did the Guadalupe SP route this year. In the past we've always done Honey Creek. Pictures

03/06/04 McKinney Falls State Park
Austin, TX We had great weather, but wet trail so we had to walk on park roads. We did visit the falls and had a great time. Pictures

04/18/04 Canyon Lake, TX Nice walk up a couple hills, and then along the Guadalupe River. Route was not over the dam like it was last year. Pictures

04/24/04 Glen Rose, TX It rained all night and then the day of the event so there was lots of water. This was a nice event and we enjoyed the walk. Pictures

05/01/04 Paint Rock, TX This is in Concho County, which was a new county for us. It rained on us most of the way out, but quit before we started walking. This walk was in town. Pictures

Near Paint Rock The day dawned clear and sunny. The ranch walk was mostly pasture, but the cliffs at the end with the pictographs was very neat. It was a great walk. Pictures

San Antonio, TX This was a downtown walk on city streets. We went by the Alamo, and the Alamodome, then thru the market square. Pictures

05/15/04 Oak Cliff This was a city walk. We went the "Arts District" and out past the golf course. Pictures

State Park This was a nice walk in the woods and around the lake. Pictures

08/08/04 Dana Peak Park Sunday Event following the TVA General Meeting. It was hosted by the Trotting Texas Turtles who were celebrating their 20th year. Pictures

Austin Due to flooding the official route was up on sidewalks along the city street. We took that route on the way out, but on the way back we took the "closed" trail along the creek. Pictures

08/21/04 Baylor YRE
Waco We walked this YRE at Lenore's request. She wanted to invite her friend Katie to come walk with us. We had great weather (72 when we started). Pictures

09/11/04 Granbury, TX Walk combined some areas of the YRE and some new streets we haven't walked before. We started at the new City Hall which is a very nice building. We also had police blocking traffic for us at the major street crossings. We had great weather and a good turn out so we saw lots of people we knew. Pictures

09/18/04 Fort Boggy SP
Leon County Walk was in two loops one in a meadowlike area the other in a wooded area around the lake. Pictures

10/02/04 Cherry Mountain This walk was along roads. I did not like the part along the main highway. We had misting rain and fog. Pictures

10/08/04 McKittrich Canyon This 13K walk went from the McKittrick Canyon Visitors Center to the Grotto. Fairly easy walk. Great weather. Pictures
10/09/04 The Bowl 15K Started at Pine Springs Visitor's Center. There were spots of sleet on top. It was clear and cold. Came back by Bear Canyon (very rough). Pictures
10/10/04 Guadalupe Peak This was a steady climb up to the peak. The view from the top was terrific. Signing the book was amazing. Pictures

10/16/04 Liberty
New County Walk started at city park and went into town and back. Just a nice city walk. Pictures

10/23/04 Denton This was a nice walk around Denton and the campus of the University of North Texas. Pictures

11/6/04 Lakeway Lakeway is a community northwest of Austin on Lake Travis. The walk was along a nature trail bordering a creek. Very nice walk. Pictures

11/13/04 South Llano State Park
Junction, TX Kimble County was a new county. We had lots of rain, and even hail, but we enjoyed the walk. Pictures

11/14/04 Tech Tech University
Junction, TX We had rain again, but most of this walk was on city streets and along roads. More wading in water but less mud than yesterday's event. Pictures

11/27/04 Samuell Farm
Mesquite, TX It was dry but cold and windy. Nice walk especially the part in the woods. Pictures

12/04/04 Boerne It was dry and not too cold this year. The walk route was the same as last year. Pictures

12/10/04 Lawton, OK This was a Friday Night walk to see the Christmas lights. We had good weather, but since we started near the end of the window there were no other walkers on the trail. Pictures

12/11/04 North Richland Hills This was a Saturday Night walk to see the Christmas lights. We had done this event before and the lights were worth the trip. Pictures

12/31/04 Fredericksburg This was a Friday afternoon walk to remember those walkers who are no longer with us. It was two 5k loops with the checkpoint at St Joseph's Hall. Pictures
