Each Saturday, walkers meet at
Cailloux Theater parking lot on Main Street to car pool to a local walk.
Everyone walks at their own pace; locations vary. Walk information is placed
in the Kerrville Daily Times each week . Walks begin at 8 a.m. from Sep 1-
May 31 and 7 a.m. from Jun 1-Aug 31. You do not have to be a member to
participate in these walks.
AVA Sanctioned Walks
The club sponsors two annual sanctioned
walks. These walks are usually 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). Routes are carefully
planned and clearly marked for participants to follow. Terrain varies per
walk. Along the route, checkpoints are manned by club members to give the
walkers a chance to get a drink of water and rest awhile. Participants keep
track of their walks by having their IVV Event and/or Distance Record book
stamped. Commemorative awards such as medals or patches are available for
purchase.
Year-Round Walks
There are four self-guided walks starting at INN OF THE HILLS, 1001 Junction Highway, Kerrville. Walks are on paved surfaces, except for the park. Participants ask
for the Year-Round Event box at the hotel front desk. The box contains
instruction sheets describing what to do at the start and finish of your
walk, written directions, and a map of the route.
